NRB's Hybrid Cloud

FAQ

Cloud computing involves calling on remote, shared information systems over the Internet. It allows users to enjoy the benefits of shared applications and infrastructure, in the form of services. Those services are then billed based on usage.

Cloud computing is certainly no fad! Information technology today is inescapably heading more and more toward cloud computing. The system not only works, but has also been shown to be profitable. For their part, companies are starting to realize that they can no longer afford the expense of an internal infrastructure and they have great difficulty in finding, training and retaining the personnel to manage that infrastructure.

Do you think your IT infrastructure is too costly? Are you expecting significant growth in your business and therefore your IT needs, but are not able or willing to invest more in this area? Do you have spikes in activity, alternating with slower periods? NRB’s Hybrid Cloud was designed for large and medium-sized enterprises that answer yes to at least one of these questions.

They are both based on the same business model (pay-per-use) and the same technologies. But whilst public clouds are open to everyone (general public), private clouds are not. A private cloud like NRB’s is a very secure environment with access limited to users who meet the conditions set out in the contract signed between client and supplier. Additionally, the environment, applications and services are often tailored to each client’s specific needs and environment. In public clouds, products and services are strictly standardized. And, last but not least, public cloud users have no way of knowing where their data is stored and processed, whereas in a private cloud like NRB’s Hybrid Cloud, data owners know exactly where their information is being hosted.

Cloud computing is a solution designed to reduce the costs associated with an organization’s information technology by making use of shared infrastructure as well as a service that is aligned with the organization’s changing needs, including its peak and slower periods. This means that the company can avoid over-provisioning, thus eliminating the need to make investments in anticipation of future or one-off activities. By pooling resources, a company that opts for NRB’s Hybrid Cloud has access to solutions that would otherwise have been prohibitive in terms of cost if rolled out internally and can enjoy not insignificant savings on maintenance costs and certain licenses. It will also receive a very high level of service and benefit from the skill sets of teams made up of top specialists in their fields.

Shared infrastructure services have been at the heart of NRB’s business for more than 25 years. The levels of security (both physical and virtual), service guarantees and business continuity offered by NRB meet the high standards expected by the market. Our data centre also meets all the necessary criteria to be classified at the highest level (Tier 3+) of the four-tier data centre classification system established by the TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association), as accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The required service level is of course defined individually for each client under an SLA (Service Level Agreement).

Yes! NRB’s Hybrid Cloud is a secure, strictly compartmentalized environment. Your data is stored with complete confidentiality and security. NRB offers solutions for multiple, redundant data backups and guarantees their conservation under any and all circumstances. Our DRP (Disaster Recovery Plan) provides for data restoration even in the most catastrophic of circumstances.

NRB’s vision is quite simple: the outsourced, shared hosting of your infrastructure, your platforms or even your software should not affect the end user. Switching to cloud computing requires no major adjustments on the part of your teams. Your users will have access to your data from any machine, whenever and wherever they choose. You will no longer have to worry about your data’s security, your backups, your storage capacity or your infrastructure capacity. Your information technology will finally become a real asset for your business.

NRB’s Hybrid Cloud will simplify the lives of your IT team members. It will allow them to focus on developing and managing their functional applications and the services they provide to your end users.

NRB takes every necessary precaution to ensure that its clients are fully compliant with current legislation and with vendors’ rights. User licenses for software and systems are handled in accordance with your needs. The SLA that you sign with NRB will cover all of these legal issues. NRB’s shared infrastructure is located entirely in Belgium, which is a major advantage for any organization that is required to, or chooses to, host its data domestically.
